2025 El Rey Tempranillo

We stumbled across El Rey a couple of months ago when their Albariño seriously impressed us, so naturally we had to see what else they were making. Turns out their Tempranillo is another cracking find. Packed with juicy dark plum and berry fruit, with a little spice and a savoury edge that makes it seriously good with food, it's another hidden gem from a producer you won't find on every bottle shop shelf, and that's exactly why it made the cut.

What to eat with it?

This one deserves a seat at the dinner table. Chorizo sizzling in a pan, smoky grilled lamb or a big plate of patatas bravas would be brilliant. If you're keeping it simple, a woodfired pizza with spicy salami will do the trick.

Drink now or later?

We'd be drinking this now, preferably with something delicious on the plate. It's got enough structure to suggest it'll hold for a few years, but the juicy fruit and savoury character are already making a pretty convincing case for opening it tonight.
